About M.C.T.

“For every complex problem there is an easy answer, and it is wrong.”

— H. L. Mencken

What is Crazy Times? Crazy Times began in the summer of 2005 as a ministry of a local church. It has since evolved but the passion and purpose remain the same. Our mission at Crazy Times is to create a community of open discussion for those in the midst of their college experience, and those who have found themselves swallowed up by the craziness of life outside of academia.

As we look out at the landscape of America we do not see black and white but rather we see gray. We forget that God is not only the Maker of day and night, but of dawn and twilight as well. Step outside this evening, before it gets dark. Marvel at the way the world around you is transformed. Some things are more difficult to see; others are delineated more clearly against the haze of dusk than they ever are beneath the harsh glare of sunlight. His palette consists not only of black and white, but also all the lovely, ambiguous shades in between. And the Bible contains more delightful paradoxes than we are aware.

W. H. Auden said “we would rather be ruined than changed. We would rather die in our illusions than climb the cross of the moment and let our illusions die.” College and our subsequent careers is that transition period of our lives when we wander outside of our caves and realize there is more to life than the shadows that we used to watch dancing on the walls. Many have turned away from God during this time never to return and many return to their cave unable to cope with the reality set before them, unable to cast aside their illusions. These may be crazy times, but even in the mist of the crazy times there is hope and peace and joy.

What we believe:

We believe that art is a reflection of the Divine. We believe that the Kingdom of God is available to us now.
We believe that truth is available to everyone who chooses to seek it and that Jesus is the source of all truth.
We believe in peace, social justice and the equality of the human race.
We believe that most answers cannot be broken down into a sound-bite.
Most of all we believe that LOVE WINS!
