As you can see from the previous post M.C.T. has a new contributing author. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mr. Holden Jeerson. He has a tendency to be a bit brash at times but overall his heart is in the right place. As soon as we figure out how to get up an author page there will be a more extensive bio. for all of our writers, which at this point in time stand at two but we’re hopefully that others will be added in the very near future.

and personally I’m leaning toward not! It’s quite funny to see something I absolutely love and something I actually despise mixed together. And in case you were wondering it’s the Drowning Pool song that I love. Enjoy!!

Little Miss SunshineBy: Joel Henderson

It seems to me that the drivel coming out of Hollywood is increasingly getting worse, from spoofs of fairly decent movies to these horror movies that are being churned out like trashy romance novels.

Much like a cold beer on a hot summer’s day, it is quite refreshing to sit down and watch a movie that is not only made well with outstanding performances but offers it’s viewers a message of redemption and love. Through the dysfunctionality of five adults and the innocence and determination of a seven-year old girl, the indie flick Little Miss Sunshine illustrates the redemptive power of the giving and receiving of love.

“It’s times like these we learn to love again.” - Foo Fighters

Just recently I did a Google news search using “homeless shelters” and found headlines such as Homeless Shelters Overloaded, Homeless Options Dwindle, Shelters Stretched and Homeless Shelters Bursting at Seams. Why, in a country littered with multi-million dollar facilities constructed in the name of God, are there shelters that must struggle daily to meet the needs of the homeless community? Last year in Pensacola, Florida there was a non-government funded shelter that gained a bit of recognition, the sole reason for which was an instruction to cease and desist operation because of fire and health code violations. To the community’s credit Heavenly Blessings received an outpouring of support, but that doesn’t change the fact that in allowing this situation to come to a head, the Greater Church in Pensacola had seriously overlooked a community of people that their faith commands them to care for. Unfortunately, I’m afraid this scenario is simply par for the course throughout many cities in America.
